Titans Round Up Falcons

Bailey Sagen and Paige Ganser combined for three UW-Oshkosh victories as the Titans defeated UW-River Falls, 6-3, in a women's tennis match held Thursday (Sept. 24) in River Falls.

UW-Oshkosh (2-3, 2-0 WIAC) overcame a 2-1 deficit after the doubles competition by winning five of the six singles contests. The Titans have won 15 of their last 22 meetings with the Falcons (0-5, 0-3 WIAC).

Sagen teamed with Ganser to take the No. 1 doubles contest by an 8-2 score over Anna Ebensperger and Kelly Mendel. Sagen then rallied for a 4-6, 6-1 (7) victory over Kelsey Hochberger at No. 1 singles.

Ganser recorded her second win of the match by defeating Molly Deering at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-3.

UW-Oshkosh collected three other individual victories, including Paige Kloth's 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Kelsey Johnson in the sixth flight.

The Titans' remaining winners were Shauna Stoffregen at No. 4 and Ashlee Polena at No. 5 singles. Stoffregen defeated Mendel, 6-8, 6-1, 6-1, while Polena ousted Lea Zuern, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

UW-River Falls jumped to its early lead on wins by Deering and Hochberger at No. 2 and Johnson and Zuern at No. 3 doubles. Deering and Hochberger defeated Stoffregen and Sophie Pitz, 8-4, while Johnson and Zuern edged Kloth and Hannah Nauth, 9-7.

The Falcons tallied their final team point on Ebensperger's 6-4, 7-6 (7) victory over Pitz at No. 3 singles.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it visits eight-time defending WIAC champion UW-Whitewater on Oct. 6.
