Hawks Spoil Titans’ Florida Opener

Emily Bostwick (Jr. • Whitefish Bay) and Lauren Piotrowski (Fr. • Greendale) combined to score all of UW-Oshkosh's points as it dropped a 6-3 women's tennis decision to SUNY-New Paltz on Monday (March 21) in Orlando, Fla.

The Titans' (7-4) victories all came in hard-fought matches. Bostwick earned her #1 singles win over Stephanie Schara with a 10-8 tiebreaker after sets of 6-1 and 2-6. In the third flight, Piotrowski topped Lindsey Garyn by a 6-4, 2-6 (10-8) margin. As the #1 doubles tandem, Bostwick and Piotrowski earned a 9-8 victory against Garyn and Schara.

Montana Wilson had Brianna Theobald's (Fr. • Manitowoc) number in both second flights. Wilson topped Theobald in singles by a 3-6, 6-1 (10-2) tally. She then teamed with Kayla DiPaulo for an 8-2 doubles triumph over Theobald and Megan Etten (Fr. • Howard). DiPaulo recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win over Etten in the #4 singles match as well.

The fifth singles flight belonged to the Hawks' (8-2) Ali Esposito, who posted a 6-3, 6-4 success over the Titans' Valerie Langkau (Fr. • Oshkosh). After Paige Munroe defeated Haley Ott (So. • Marshfield) by a 6-2, 6-0 figure, Esposito and Munroe took down Langkau and Megan Saari (Fr. • Oshkosh) in #3 doubles, 8-4.

UW-Oshkosh will hit the courts again on Tuesday (March 22) against Colby College (Maine) in Orlando.
