Titans Win All But One Event Against Duhawks On Senior Day

OSHKOSH, Wis.- Wins in all but one event led the UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team to a 217.5-69.5 win over Loras College (Iowa) at Albee Hall on Saturday (Jan. 27). The home meet was also Senior Day.

Amanda Richards (Jr. • Waterford), Bella Cichon (Fr. • Manhattan, Ill.), Cadence Showalter (Jr. • Naperville, Ill.) and Francesca Schiro (Jr. • New Glarus) won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:54.86 while another Titan squad made up of Sienna Della-Peruta (Fr. • Grayslake, Ill.), Bee Ecklund (Fr. • Elgin, Ill.), Grace Fergus (Jr. • Sugar Grove, Ill.) and Brianna Smith (Sr. • Waterford) finished third at 2:00.51.

Smith and Elizabeth Fritz (Fr. • Mokena, Ill.) took the top-two 1,000-yard freestyle spots with times of 11:25.21 and 12:10.61.

Brianna Wesenberg (So. • Ripon) grabbed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a 2:05.34 finish, followed in third by Mara Amley (Fr. • Haslett, Mich.) in 2:07.74.

The top five positions of the 100-yard backstroke went to UW-Oshkosh which was led by Schiro in 1:02.68. Della-Peruta finished second in 1:02.82 and Richards raced a 1:04.66 for third. Fergus and Megan Miles (Fr. • Tomahawk) rounded out the top-five.

Cichon collected the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke by swimming the event in 1:13.31. Kylee Dinninger (Fr. • DeWitt, Mich.) grabbed second in 1:18.68 and Kacie Solberg (Fr. • Brillion finished in 1:20.59 for third.

Showalter won the three-swimmer field with a 2:20.70 in the 200-yard butterfly.

Richards and Dinninger acquired second and third in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 26.55 and 27.65 seconds, respectively.

Abbi Priestley (So. • Neenah), no stranger to the top of diving results, won the 1-meter diving with 273.55 points and the 3-meter diving with 285.75 points. Maya Indiraraj (So. • West Bend) took second in both events with 244.60- and 235.35-point performances and the third spot was occupied by Lexi Johnson in both events with scores of 191.20 and 175.35 points.

Schiro and Richards finished first and third in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 54.00 seconds and 1:00.67.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Della-Peruta garnered a first-place position by swimming in 2:18.04, while Fergus took second in 2:21.48.

Cichon acquired her third overall and second individual event win with a time of 2:39.56 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Solberg rounded out the top-three with a 2:53.01 finish.

The Titans finished the 500-yard freestyle with the top six times. Wesenberg won in 5:31.24, followed by Smith (5:38.01) and Ecklund (5:39.82). Amley, Fritz and Ogango (Fr. • Leesburg, Va.) took fourth through sixth.

Miles followed Showalter's first time of 1:02.99 in the 100-yard butterfly with her own time of 1:08.81 for second.

Della-Peruta once again placed first during the meet in the 200-yard IM at 2:25.73. Ecklund collected third place in 2:30.20.

Schiro, Smith, Dinninger and Showalter won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:45.11 and Fergus, Wesenberg, Ogango and Fritz finished third in 1:50.18.

The Titans will send divers to the University of Illinois Diving Invitational on Feb. 3 before the four-day WIAC Championship begins in Brown Deer on Feb. 14.
