Titans Win Dual, Nine Events Against Vikings

APPLETON, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team won nine events and took the top-three spots in six during a 174-64 win over Lawrence University on Saturday (Jan. 6).

Sienna Della-Peruta (Fr. • Grayslake, Ill.), Kylee Dinninger (Fr. • DeWitt, Mich.), Cadence Showalter (Jr. • Naperville, Ill.) and Julie Innerebner (Fr. • Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) took second in the 200-yard medley relay, racing a 2:02.32 in the first event of the meet.

In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Brianna Smith (Sr. • Waterford), Brianna Wesenberg (So. • Ripon) and Elizabeth Fritz (Fr. • Mokena, Ill.) finished in the top three spots with times of 11:50.43, 11:59.29 and 12:41.35. Francesca Schiro (Jr. • New Glarus), Showalter and Mara Amley (Fr. • Haslett, Mich.) then swept the 200-yard freestyle places. Schiro won in 2:05.11, Showalter took second in 2:08.88 and Amley grabbed third with a 2:13.05 performance.

Amanda Richards (Jr. • Waterford) finished the 50-yard freestyle in 26.38 for second, followed by Dinninger in third at 27.62. Della Peruta won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:25.74 and Bee Ecklund (Fr. • Elgin, Ill.) grabbed the third place spot in 2:27.76.

Leading the Titans in the 1-meter diving was Abbi Priestley (So. • Neenah) with a 260.78 points score. Maya Indiraraj (So. • West Bend) scored 207.53 for second and Gia Migliorese (Jr. • New Lenox, Ill.) finished third with 180.30 points.

Showalter took another top-three finish in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing the event in 1:05.52.

The Titans swept places one through three in the 100-yard freestyle, with Schiro in first in 55.66, Richards in second in 58.90 and Innerebner in third in 1:01.35.

Another Oshkosh event win came in the 100-yard backstroke when Della-Peruta raced a 1:04.31 for the top spot. Ecklund also placed, finishing second in 1:07.38. Megan Miles (Fr. • Tomahawk) sealed a top spot with a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:08.21.

Once again, the Titans swept an event, this time in the 500-yard freestyle. Smith, Amley and Layla Ogango (Fr. • Leesburg, Va.) finished in order at 5:51.20, 5:54.61 and 6:12.40.

Wrapping up the diving portion of the meet for the women, Priestley won with 264.30 points, Indiraraj took second with 218.40 and Lexi Johnson (So. • Kimberly) grabbed third with 163.88.

Bella Cichon (Fr. • Manhattan, Ill.) took the penultimate first place finish with a 1:13.12 in the 1:13.12.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Ecklund, Miles, Amley and Schiro raced a 1:50.62 for first place and Smith, Cichon, Fritz and Wesenberg finished second with a time of 1:50.64.

The Titans return to action at UW-Stevens Point on Friday (Jan. 12) at 5 p.m.
