Titans Fall to Firebirds In Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's swimming and diving team fell short while facing Carthage College on Friday (Jan. 5), losing 190-104.

The Titans started the meet off taking second in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:56.95. The relay squad consisted of Sienna Della-Peruta (Fr. • Grayslake, Ill.), Bella Cichon (Fr. • Manhattan, Ill.), Grace Fergus (Jr. • Sugar Grove, Ill.) and Amanda Richards (Jr. • Waterford).

Cichon later won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:11.16 and the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:37.16 finish.

Showalter collected three more top-three finishes in the meet, including a 57.13-second, seconc place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, a third place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:03.42 and a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.66). Richards joined Showalter with multiple individual top-three places. She took second in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.99 seconds and raced to third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.43.

Other Titans the took a place in the meet were Brianna Smith (Sr. • Waterford), Bee Ecklund (Fr. • Elgin, Ill.), Della-Peruta and Brianna Wesenberg (So. • Ripon). Smith finished the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:37.32 for seconds, Ecklund grabbed second with a 2:19.93 in the 200-yard backstroke, Della-Peruta took 2:20.24 to finish third in the 200-yard backstroke and Wesenberg finished third with a 5:44.80 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Abbi Priestley (So. • Neenah) won the 1-meter diving with a score of 226.55. She was followed by Maya Indiraraj (So. • West Bend) with a score of 183.90. In the 3 meter diving, Priestley won again with a score of 239.70, with Indiraraj taking second with a score of 210.55.

In the last event of the meet, Showalter, Smith, Kylee Dinninger (Fr. • DeWitt, Mich.) and Wesenberg took second the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:48.18.

The Titans return to action on Saturday (Jan. 6), heading up to Lawrence University to face the Vikings at 1:30 a.m.
