Titans Collect 12 Top-Three Finishes At Carthage College Classic

CARTAHAGE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team grabbed 12 top-three finishes at the Carthage College Classic this weekend (Nov. 30-Dec. 2).

The Titans took fourth in the eight-team field with 1,154 points. St. Norbert College won the team title, followed by Carthage College with 1,435.5 points and Lake Forest College (Ill.) with 1,340.5 points.

Amanda Richards (Jr. • Waterford), Bella Cichon (Fr. • Manhattan, Ill.), Cadence Showalter (Jr. • Naperville, Ill.) and Francesca Schiro (Jr. • New Glarus) won the 200-yard medley relay (1:49.44) and took second in the 400-yard medley relay (4:00.99).

Brianna Wesenberg (So. • Ripon), Showalter, Brianna Smith (Sr. • Waterford) and Schiro won the 800-yard freestyle relay with a finish of 7:57.53.

Schiro turned in three top-three finishes individually. She won the 100-yard freestyle (53.16), 200-yard freestyle (1:54.56) and grabbed a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.97). Cichon also grabbed two individual top-two finishes of her own. She raced a 1:06.64 for first in the 100-yard breaststroke and a 2:25.25 for second in 200-yard breaststroke.

On the diving board, Abbi Priestley (So. • Neenah) won both the 1- and 3-meter events in scores of 454.90 and 465.85. Maya Indiraraj (So. • West Bend) followed in second of the 1-meter diving, scoring 372.15 and third in the 3-meter with a score of 324.10.

The Titans return to the pool on Saturday, January 6 in Appleton to face Lawrence University at 11:30 a.m.
