Titans Defeat Whitewater For First Time Since 2004

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team collected 10 first place finishes on the way to its first win over UW-Whitewater in 19 years with a score of 194-97 at Albee Hall on Saturday (Nov. 4).

The last time the Titans (2-1, 1-1 WIAC) took a victory against the Warhawks (1-1, 0-1 WIAC) came on Nov 6. 2004 at Albee Hall. They defeated the Warhawks 135-104.

Francesca Schiro (Jr. • New Glarus), Cadence Showalter (Jr. • Naperville, Ill.), Amanda Richards (Jr. • Waterford), and Bella Cichon (Fr. • Manhattan, Ill.) grabbed a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.16.

Schiro, Showalter, and Richards along with Brianna Smith (Sr. • Waterford) earned first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.77.

Schiro and Cichon also collected additional first place finishes for the Titans. Schiro won the 100- and 200-freestyle events with times of 53.99 and 1:59.45. Cichon grabbed wins in the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes at 11:11.78 and 2:36.60.

Abbi Priestley (So. • Neenah) took home first place titles in the 1- and 3-meter diving events with scores of 257.00 and 232.65.

Showalter won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.87 and Richards raced 26.53 for the 50-yard freestyle crown.

The Titans will head to Lawrence University next Saturday (Nov. 11) for the Gene Davis Invitational.
