Titans Fall to Blugolds In Season Opener

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team opened the 2023-24 season at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Oct. 14), falling to the Blugolds 148-86.

Abbi Priestley (So. • Neenah) collected two first-place finishes and Francesca Schiro (Jr. • New Glarus) collected one for the Titans (0-1, 0-1 WIAC) against the Blugolds (1-0, 1-0 WIAC).

Priestley placed first in the 1- and 3-meter diving events with scores of 244.85 and 258.75, respectively.

Schiro won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.46 and collected a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.96.

Finishing second in both the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke, Cadence Showalter (Jr. • Naperville, Ill.) swam times of 1:03.44 and 1:18.93.

Other returners placing in the top-three were Amanda Richards (Jr. • Waterford) 1:05.03 for second in the 100-yard backstroke, Brianna Wesenberg (So. • Ripon) 5:53.41 for second in the 500-yard freestyle, Maya Indiraraj (So. • West Bend) 204.45 for second in the 3-meter diving and Brianna Smith (Sr.  Waterford) 5:57.17 for third in the 500-yard freestyle.

Sienna Della-Peruta (Fr. • Grayslake, Ill.) took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.18 in her first collegiate meet.

Richards, Kylee Dinninger, (Fr. • DeWitt, Mich.) Layla Ogango (Fr. • Leesburg, Va.) and Smith finished the 200-yard freestyle relay in second place with a time of 1:50.38.­

The Titans will head to Brown Deer for the annual Wisconsin Showcase Invite hosted by UW-Milwaukee at the Schroeder Aquatic Center next Saturday (Oct. 21). The first event is scheduled for 1 p.m.
