Oshkosh Defeats Lawrence in Non-Conference Dual

OSHKOSH, Wis.—Claiming ten first place finishes, the UW-Oshkosh Titans women's swimming and diving squad won their first dual meet this season. The Titans defeated Lawrence University 109-103 in Albee Hall this afternoon.

In the 1000 freestyle, Cadence Showalter and Brianna Smith went 1-2 with times of 11:31.89 and 11:36.06 respectively. Smith's time of 11:36.06 was a season best by nearly 20 seconds.

Smith led all swimmers in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 5:40.34.

Francesca Schiro was the lone Titan in the 50 freestyle, timing in at 25.25 for top honors. Schiro would lead the Titans in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.22. Schiro recorded season best times in both the 50 and 100 freestyles.

In the 100 backstroke, Grace Fergus led the Titans with a time of 1:08.23 for first place honors.

Brianna Wesenberg swam a 1:16.62 in the 100 breaststroke to finish in first place for the Titans. Wesenberg claimed second place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:29.15.

In the 100 butterfly, Showalter led the Titans with a time of 1:02.83 for runner-up honors. Fergus competed in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.71

Leading the way on the 1-meter boards, Abbi Priestley recorded a score of 250.70. Maya Indiraraj scored a 202.55 for second place while Lexi Johnson recorded a score of 138.45 to round out the top-3 finishers. All three Titans recorded season best dive scores on the 1-meter boards. On the 3-meter boards, Priestley and Indiraraj led the way with score of 253.60 and 192.05 respectively.

In relay action, Showalter, Wesenberg, Smith, and Schiro teamed up for a first place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:44.82.

The Titans return to action, hosting UW-Stevens Point on January 13 in Albee Hall.
