Schiro Finishes First in Titans Season Opener
OSHKOSH, Wis.—Francesca Schiro grabbed two top finishes for the Titans as the UW-Oshkosh Titans women's swimming and diving team dropped their season opener to the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds, 185-45.
Schiro took home top-honors in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 25.61. Schiro would take top honors in the 100-yard freestyle at 55.28.
In diving action, Abbi Priestley took runner-up honors in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving, finishing with a score of 212.39 (1-meter) and 225.37 (3-meter). Maya Indiraraj and Gia Migliorese would also compete in the 1-meter diving with scores of 153.91 and 130.42.
In the 200 IM, Grace Fergus clocked in at 2:30.51 to lead the Titans.
Cadence Showalter and Fergus finished inside the top-6 in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:05.51 and 1:07.61. Showallter competed in the 100-yard breaststroke for the Titans, clocking in at 1:22.23.
Brianna Wesenberg took home fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.77. Wesenberg grabbed a top-4 finished in the 500-yard freestyle, timing in at 5:57.13.
The Titans squad of Fergus, Showalter, Wesenberg, and Schiro finished in the top-4 in the 200-medley relay, timing in at 2:03.31. Fergus, Showalter, Schiro, and Wesenberg took home third in the 200-freestyle relay, timing in at 1:47.38.
Angela Satterlee competed in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 2:29.71.
The Titans return to action on Oct. 22 at the Wisconsin College Showcase in Brown Deer, Wisconsin.
