Sommer Named Assistant Swimming & Diving Coach

Charles Sommer has joined the UW-Oshkosh men's and women's swimming & diving program as an assistant coach.

Sommer arrives at UW-Oshkosh after spending one season as an assistant swimming & diving coach at Homestead High School in Mequon.

"We're excited to have Charles be a part of the Titan swimming & diving family," UW-Oshkosh head coach Christopher Culp said. "Having the additional help greatly impacts our program as we continue to grow and compete at a higher level. Charles will fit in well with our student-athletes and culture, and we're thrilled to have him."

Sommer's coaching position at UW-Oshkosh will include recruitment of student-athletes, youth/adult camp organization and daily operation assistance with the men's and women's programs.

Sommer was the head coach of Lompoc Tsunami Aquatics (Calif.) from 2016-21 before moving to the Southeastern Wisconsin.

"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to join head coach Christopher Culp and diving coach Amy McQuillan at UW-Oshkosh," Sommer said. "I look forward to growing the school's swimming & diving program and taking it to new heights. I can't wait to see what lies ahead for the Titans!"

Sommer graduated from Lompoc High School (Calif.) and attended Allan Hancock College (Calif.).

Sommer, and his wife, Rebecca, are the parents of daughter, Camilla.
