Eagles Victorious Over Titans

Bailey Schroeder won both diving events while Francesca Schiro added a victory in the 50-yard freestyle during UW-Oshkosh's 155-84 women's swimming & diving loss to UW-La Crosse Saturday (Jan. 22) in Albee Hall.

Schroeder earned first-place diving scores of 238.70 off the 1-meter board and 226.70 off the 3-meter plank against the Eagles. She has now won the 1-meter diving event in each of UW-Oshkosh's last four meets.

Schiro also had a big meet for the Titans. She won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.06 seconds while finishing second in both the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke with swims of 56.19 seconds and 1:05.40, respectively.

Schiro furthermore helped Emma Hall, Cadence Showalter and Brianna Smith to a second-place time of 3:51.28 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Smith and UW-Oshkosh teammate Morgan Beckett were the owner of a pair of second-place finishes. Smith recorded freestyle times of 5:54.59 at 500 and 20:10.47 at 1,650 yards while Beckett etched breaststroke performances of 1:16.83 at 100 and 2:47.38 at 200 yards.

Showalter contributed a trio of top-four listings by finishing second in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:11.65, third in the 100-yard freestyle at 58.25 seconds and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.81 seconds.

Hall additionally placed second in the 200- and third in the 100-yard backstrokes with times of 2:20.58 and 1:05.54, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh also received a second-place time of 2:25.24 in the 200-yard backstroke from Grace Fergus and fourth-place performances of 1:02.34 in the 100-yard freestyle from Corinna Winkler and 1:24.02 in the 100-yard breaststroke from Moriah Drabenstadt.

The Titans' 200-yard medley relay squad of Beckett, Drabenstadt, Fergus and Winkler finished second with a time of 2:02.76.

UW-La Crosse, the nine-time defending Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion, won 11 individual events and a pair of relays during the meet.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts Ripon College on Feb. 5 in Albee Hall.
