Titans Overwhelm Buccaneers

First-place finishes in 10 events helped the UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team cruise to a 122-42 victory over Beloit College on Friday (Jan. 7) in Beloit. The competition was the Titans' first since they performed at the Carthage College Classic held Dec. 4.

Winning two events apiece for UW-Oshkosh were Francesca Schiro, Bailey Schroeder and Brianna Smith.

Schiro won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles with her times of 25.58 and 55.57 seconds, respectively. She also helped Smith, Cadence Showalter and Emma Hall register a first-place time of 1:47.46 in the 200-yard freestyle.

Schroeder swept both diving events with her winning scores of 218.65 off the 1-meter board and 200.05 off the 3-meter plank.

Smith swam to victories in 200- and 500-yard freestyles with her times of 2:12.62 and 5:54.53, respectively.

Also winning events for the Titans were Hall, Morgan Beckett and Grace Fergus.

Hall won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.87 while placing second in the 50-yard freestyle with a swim of 27.16 seconds.

Beckett posted a first-place time of 1:16.47 in the 100-yard breaststroke while finishing second in the 100-yard individual medley with a performance of 1:08.91.

Fergus finished first in the 100-yard butterfly and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:06.18 and 1:20.64, respectively.

Showalter contributed a pair of second-place finishes with her times of 1:06.50 in the 100-yard backstroke and 1:18.49 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Titans also received second-place scores of 160.30 in the 1- and 156.05 in the 3-meter diving from Allie Wucak.

Moriah Drabenstadt gave UW-Oshkosh its lone third-place finish with her swim of 1:03.94 in the 100-yard freestyle.

UW-Oshkosh's home meet against Lawrence University on Saturday (Jan. 8) has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols. The Titans are scheduled to compete at UW-Stevens Point next Friday (Jan. 14).
