Titans Lose Narrow Result To Green Knights

UW-Oshkosh won six of 13 events during its narrow 117-112 loss to the St. Norbert College women's swimming & diving team Saturday (Nov. 20) in De Pere.

Francesca Schiro led UW-Oshkosh by swimming to first-place freestyle times of 25.78 seconds at 50 yards and 55.87 seconds at 100. She also helped teammates Emma Hall, Cadence Showalter and Brianna Smith post a victorious time of 1:45.95 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Smith also won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:59.22 and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a swim of 5:52.24.

Showalter additionally finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.44 and assisted teammates Hall, Morgan Beckett and Ava Marx to a second-place performance of 2:00.98 in the 200-yard medley relay.

UW-Oshkosh collected its remaining victories from Bailey Schroeder and Ella Thibert in the 1-meter diving. Schroeder won the five-dive category with 193.15 points while Thibert took first place in the six-dive section with 223.90. Schroeder and Thibert both contributed second-place finishes with their 1-meter scores of 213.95 for six dives and 173.15 for five, respectively.

Allie Wucak owned two of UW-Oshkosh's seven third-place finishes by totaling 200.50 points for six dives and 151.10 for five dives off the 1-meter board.

The Titans also received third-place swims of 2:27.54 from Beckett in the 200-yard individual medley, 1:06.59 from Hall in the 100-yard backstroke, 27.36 seconds from Marx in the 50-yard freestyle, 2:17.08 from Olivia Davis in the 200-yard freestyle and 1:09.47 from Corrina Winkler in the 100-yard butterfly.

UW-Oshkosh's fourth-place results included a pair from Emelia Smith in the 1-meter diving. She compiled 176.75 points for six dives of the event and 138.30 for five.

Other Titans finishing fourth were Beckett in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.97, Davis in the 100-yard butterfly with a performance of 1:10.71, Thibert in the 50-yard freestyle with an effort of 29.33 seconds and Winkler in the 200-yard freestyle with a swim of 2:17.72.

The Titans are off until they compete at the three-day Carthage College Classic on Dec. 2-4 in Kenosha.
