Warhawks Get The Better Of The Titans

Francesca Schiro won two swimming events and Ella Thibert a pair of diving categories during UW-Oshkosh's 168-113 loss to the UW-Whitewater women's swimming & diving team Saturday (Nov. 6) in Albee Hall.

Schiro swam to first-place freestyle times of 25.77 seconds at 50 yards and 55.73 seconds at 100. She also assisted Emma Hall, Cadence Showalter, and Brianna Smith for a second-place time of 1:47.27 in the 200-yard freestyle relay and Hall, Showalter, and Morgan Beckett for a second-place performance of 1:57.81 in the 200-yard medley relay.

Thibert earned her two wins by totaling 194.60 points off the 1-meter board and 185.77 off the 3-meter plank.

Brianna Smith additionally contributed a first-place time of 5:50.94 in the 500-yard freestyle relay and a second-place effort of 11:55.95 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

Diver Allie Wucak accounted for a pair of second-place finishes by counting 174.37 points in the 1-meter division and 171.52 in the 3-meter section.

Also finishing second for the Titans were Hall in the 200-yard backstroke and Showalter in the 200-yard freestyle with times of 2:26.36 and 2:05.46, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh's Beckett, Emelia Smith, and Corrina Winkler each finished third in two events.

Beckett swam to breaststroke times of 1:15.90 at 100 and 2:40.09 at 200 yards while Emelia Smith tallied scores of 152.62 off the 1-meter diving board and 131.78 off the 3-meter plank. Winkler earned her listings with times of 1:09.40 in the 100-yard butterfly and 1:12.16 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Showalter completed the Titans' third-place listings with her time of 57.98 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.

UW-Oshkosh will participate at the Lawrence University Gene Davis Invitational next Saturday (Nov. 13) in Appleton. Contestants from Beloit College, Ripon College and St. Norbert College are expected to join competitors from UW-Oshkosh and the host Vikings in the meet.
