Kraus Earns Top 20 Finishes At NCAA Diving Regional

UW-Oshkosh's Gabrielle Kraus earned a pair of top 20 finishes at the NCAA Division III Women's Region 1 Diving Championship held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 26-27) in Granville, Ohio.

Kraus totaled 391.00 points to finish 13th among 24 competitors off the 3-meter diving board. Maria Zarka of Kenyon College (Ohio) won the event with 494.15 points, while Sarah Sheridan of Hope College (Mich.) placed second and Jordan Anderson of UW-La Crosse third with scores of 488.15 and 450.80, respectively.

Off the 1-meter diving plank, Kraus ranked 20th among 28 participants with 373.15 points. Zarka captured first place with 454.75 points, while Sierra Becker of UW-Whitewater finished second with 432.60 and Sarah Bradley of Calvin College (Mich.) third with 423.10.

Anderson, Becker, Bradley, Sheridan and Zarka were among seven competitors who qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championship on March 16-19 in Greensboro, N.C., from the Region 1 event. The other qualifiers were Kayley Alioto from UW-La Crosse and Madeline Woods from Kalamazoo College (Mich.).

Kraus, who was appearing in her first regional meet, placed sixth in the 1-meter division and ninth in the 3-meter category at the WIAC Championship held Feb. 18-20 in Brown Deer.

Other NCAA Division III regional championships were held Friday and Saturday in Cortland, N.Y., Grinnell, Iowa, and Wellesley, Mass.
