Vikings Swim To Victory Over Titans

Sally Hesby dove to a pair of victories while Taylor Teske swam to another first-place finish during UW-Oshkosh's 139-98 loss to the Lawrence University women's swimming & diving team on Friday (Dec. 11) in Appleton.

Hesby won both diving events by defeating UW-Oshkosh teammates Gabrielle Kraus and Colleen Barnstable.

Hesby tallied 252.91 points off the 1-meter board, while Kraus placed second with 241.81 points and Barnstable third with 174.38. Off the 3-meter plank, Hesby counted 245.48 points, while Kraus finished second with 227.63 and Barnstable third with 198.60.

Teske captured first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.63. She also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with an effort of 57.32 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh earned second place in both relays, marking times of 1:50.60 in the 200-yard freestyle and 1:55.07 in the 200-yard medley. The freestyle group consisted of Paige Burgess, Sarah Gee, Casey Houts and Davi Ruckdashel. Members of the medley contingent were Teske, Katie Challoner, McKinzie Halkola and Alison Panske.

Challoner also contributed a pair of second-place individual finishes by swimming to times of 1:09.02 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:22.27 in the 200-yard individual medley.

Houts and Panske added a second and third-place finish each. Houts ranked second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:43.68 and third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a performance of 11:57.24.  Panske placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.16 seconds and third in the 200-yard freestyle with an effort of 2:10.03.

Halkola concluded UW-Oshkosh's list of top performances with her third-place time of 1:09.84 in the 100-yard butterfly.

UW-Oshkosh is idle until it hosts UW-La Crosse on Jan. 23 in Albee Hall.
