Challoner, Houts Lead Titans During Loss To Warhawks

Katie Challoner and Casey Houts both won an event and placed second in another during UW-Oshkosh's 129-100 loss to the UW-Whitewater women's swimming & diving team on Friday (Nov. 13) in Whitewater.

Challoner took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.43 while finishing second in the 200-yard individual medley with a performance of 2:27.22.

Houts swam to a winning time of 19:45.70 in the 1,650-yard while being the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke with an effort of 1:11.68.

Both swimmers also helped UW-Oshkosh record a pair of top-three relay finishes. Houts, Paige Burgess, Sarah Gee and Davi Ruckdashel combined for a second-place time of 4:12.49 in the 400-yard freestyle relay after Challoner, McKinzie Halkola, Alison Panske and Taylor Teske worked for a third-place time of 4:17.05 in the 400-yard medley relay.

The Titans' Gabrielle Kraus was the second-place finisher in both diving events, totaling 204.60 points off the 3-meter board and 182.03 off the 1-meter plank.

UW-Oshkosh's other second-place results belonged to Gee in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:57.96, Halkola in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:08.89, Panske in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.03 seconds, and Teske in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.81 seconds.

Sally Hesby led the Titans' remaining third-place finishes with her scores of 199.20 in the 3-meter diving and 172.06 in the 1-meter diving.

Third-place efforts also went to Halkola in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:31.68, Panske in the 50-yard freestyle with a performance of 27.16 seconds and Ruckdashel in the 100-yard freestyle with an effort of 1:03.75.

UW-Oshkosh close its third-place rankings with the times of 1:18.51 in the 100-yard butterfly by Teagan Murphy, 20:23.65 in the 1,650-yard freestyle by Janelle Sharpee and 5:59.15 in the 500-yard freestyle by Laura Sullivan.

UW-Whitewater took first place in 11 of the 13 events, including the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley races where Sarah Artega swam to times of 56.05 seconds and 2:14.64, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh will host UW-Eau Claire in its home debut next Saturday (Nov. 21) in Albee Hall.
