Blugolds Shine Against Titans
Emily Shandley (Jr. • Oak Creek) won
two races for the third consecutive meet as UW-Oshkosh dropped a
146-95 women’s swimming and diving decision to UW-Eau Claire
on Saturday (Nov. 12) in Albee Hall.
The Titans took first place in six events, with Shandley marking
triumphant times of 54.46 in the 100-yard freestyle and 1:59.50 in
the 200-yard freestyle.
Allison Booth (So. • Middleton) owned the diving board with
first-place scores of 222.23 at one meter and 206.93 at three
meters. Melissa Harvey (Sr. • Kingsford, Mich.) added another
victory with her time of 2:17.31 in the 200-yard backstroke.
UW-Oshkosh swept the top three places in the 200-yard butterfly,
including a winning figure of 2:22.85 by Samantha Sommers (Sr.
• Suamico). The second-place spot in the event went to Katie
Duffey (Jr. • McFarland) at 2:27.83.
Cassie Dutko (Jr. • Oshkosh) and
Britney Hilgendorf (Fr. • Madison) each contributed a second
and third-place result for UW-Oshkosh. Dutko ranked second in the
three-meter diving with a score of 184.35 and third in the
one-meter plunge with a figure of 177.53. Hilgendorf swam to a second-place time of 5:33.82 in the
500-yard freestyle and a third-place value of 5:01.22 in the
400-yard individual medley.
Along with a second-place time of 4:15.68 by the 400-yard medley
relay group, the Titans used Vanessa Jagodinsky’s (So. •
Green Bay) third-place time of 2:30.33 in the 200-yard freestyle to
score team points.
The Titans have a road meet at UW-River Falls on Saturday (Nov.
19).
