Eagles Fly Away From Titans
Emily Shandley (Jr. • Oak Creek) won twice in the freestyle
competition and Britney Hilgendorf (Fr. • Madison) once during
UW-Oshkosh's 146-89 loss to the UW-La Crosse women's swimming and
diving team on Saturday (Jan. 14) in La Crosse.
Shandley took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of
55.03 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle with a performance of
1:59.59. Hilgendorf earned her victory with a time of 11:24.34 in
the 1,000-yard freestyle. Both swimmers joined Melissa Harvey (Sr.
• Kingsford, Mich.) and Vanessa Jagodinsky (So. • Green
Bay) to post a third-place time of 1:58.49 in the 200-yard medley
relay.
UW-Oshkosh's second-place listings were led by Katie Duffey (Jr.
• McFarland). Duffey swam to times of 1:09.16 in the 100-yard
backstroke and 2:29.60 in the 200-yard individual medley while
joining Desiree Deming (Fr. • Cedarburg), Hannah Forcey (So.
• Appleton) and Marissa Graff (So. • Houghton, Mich.) to
record a second-place mark of 1:49.90 in the 200-yard freestyle
relay.
The Titans also received second-place finishes from Hilgendorf
and Liz Schneider (Jr. • Madison). Hilgendorf earned a time of
1:17.89 in the 100-yard breaststroke and Schneider a value of
5:42.17 in the 500-yard freestyle.
UW-Oshkosh had Forcey, Harvey, Allison Booth (So. •
Middleton) and Karen Thompson (So. • Brookfield) tally both a
third- and fourth-place finish. Forcey ranked third in the 500-yard
freestyle (5:48.25) and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.07),
while Harvey ranked third in the 50-yard freestyle (26.83) and
fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (57.81). Booth finished third in
the three-meter diving (208.60) and fourth in the one-meter diving
(189.15), while Thompson placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke
(1:23.77) and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:22.17).
Other Titans finishing third were Lauren Klasen (So. • Green
Bay) in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:40.09 and
Kathryn O'Brien (Fr. • Bay Village, Ohio) in the 100-yard
backstroke with a mark of 1:15.24.
UW-Oshkosh competes at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational on Friday
and Saturday (Jan. 20-21).
