Titans Edge Division II Wildcats
Liz Schneider (So. • Madison) won two
events and swam on a first-place relay team as UW-Oshkosh edged
NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University, 120-117, in a
women's swimming and diving meet held Saturday (Nov. 7) in Albee
Hall.
UW-Oshkosh owned the winner in seven of the 13 events, including
the 500-yard freestyle and 1,650-yard freestyle where Schneider
posted first-place times of 5:38.21 and 19:15.12, respectively.
Schneider also participated on UW-Oshkosh's 200-yard freestyle
relay team that recorded a time of 1:48.80. Joining Schneider in
the relay were Melissa Harvey (So. • Iron Mountain, Mich.),
Angie Picotte (Sr. • Andover, Minn.) and Heather Statz (Jr.
• Sun Prairie).
The Titans also picked up individual victories from Harvey in the
100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.38, Picotte in the 200-yard
freestyle with a mark of 2:06.66 and Janna Oelrich (Sr. •
Marathon) in the 100-yard breaststroke with a value of 1:14.84.
Harvey and Picotte added second-place finishes with times of
2:26.59 in the 200-yard individual medley and 58.30 in the 100-yard
freestyle, respectively.
UW-Oshkosh's remaining triumph came in the 200-yard medley relay.
The Titans won the event as Oelrich, Katie Duffey (Fr. •
McFarland), Lynnea Krajco (Sr. • Verona) and Emily Shandley
(Fr. • Oak Creek) registered a time of 1:58.77.
The Titans got their other second-place finishes from Duffey and
Shandley. Duffey marked a time of 1:07.58 in the 100-yard
butterfly, while Shandley notched a time of 26.69 in the 50-yard
freestyle.
UW-Oshkosh's third-place performances were led by the pair of both
Krajco and Cassie Dutko (Fr. • Oshkosh). Krajco recorded times
of 27.32 in the 50-yard freestyle and 1:06.10 in the 100-yard
backstroke, while Dutko compiled scores of 136.45 in the one-meter
diving and 100.90 in the three-meter diving.
Also finishing third were Oelrich in the 200-yard individual
medley with a time of 2:28.55, Statz in the 200-yard freestyle with
a time of 2:08.39 and Jana Krautkramer (Sr. • Marathon) in the
100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:21.51.
Northern Michigan University had a pair of double winners in
Kelsey Sipple and Kelli Vander Baan. Sipple swam to times of 25.81
in the 50-yard freestyle and 56.75 in the 100-yard freestyle, while
Vander Baan marked scores of 225.45 in the one-meter diving and
235.25 in the three-meter diving. The Wildcats also picked wins
from Gena Haas in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.63 and
Lindsay Stedman in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of
2:23.78.
UW-Oshkosh returns to the pool to host UW-Eau Claire on Saturday
(Nov. 14) in Albee Hall.
