Titans Drop Conference Match In Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team dropped its conference match with UW-Eau Claire on the road on Saturday (Oct. 14).

The Titans (2-9-3, 1-3-0 WIAC) outshot the Blugolds (7-3-3, 2-1-1 WIAC) 14-10 while owning five on goal against the Blugolds' six. The additional shot on goal that Oshkosh goalkeeper, Emma Sauriol (Jr. • New Lenox, Ill.) made the different in the match as both her and Blugold goalkeeper Kennedy Boll saved five shots on goal.

Rylie Kaufmann (Sr. • St. Charles, Ill.) led Oshkosh with four shots while both Gabriella Mattio (Fr. • Plainfield, Ill.) and Kate Whitney (Jr. • Skokie, Ill.) shot three times with one on goal. The remaining three shots on goal came from Mackenzie Stein (Jr. • Palatine, Ill.), Maris Heun (So. • Watertown, Minn.) and Anna Zenz (Fr. • West Allis).

Neither team scored in the first 45 minutes of play and Sauriol made four of her saves in the half.

Megan Hansen scored the only goal of the game for Eau Claire, unassisted, in the 62nd minute and Sauriol picked up her final save in the 70th.

Mattio made the last shot on goal for the Titans in the 74th minute, kicking the ball to the bottom center of the goal for Boll's final save. Oshkosh shot three more times, all off target.

The Titans return to action on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match against UW-Stevens Point at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
