Titans Win Over Blue Devils At Home

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team only needed one goal to get back in the win column in a Saturday night (Oct. 7) match against UW-Stout.

The Titans (2-8-3, 1-2 WIAC) outshot the Blue Devils (3-6-2, 0-2 WIAC) 16 to 12 while Stout led in shots on goal (8-7) and corner kicks (3-2).

Eight Titans recorded a shot with six kicking at least two and four registering at least one shot on goal. Alayna Clark (Jr. • Watertown) led the team with three shots, all on goal, and the lone score of the match.

Emma Sauriol (Jr. • New Lenox, Ill.), who has been a force between the posts all season, saved all eight shots she faced.

Clark got the ball from Kate Whitney (Jr. • Skokie, Ill.), who had scored in the previous two games and put the ball in the back of the net at 37:58. Rylie Kaufmann (Sr. • St. Charles, Ill.) looked to make the score 2-0, but the ball bounced off the crossbar.

After a corner kick, UW-Oshkosh tried twice to score again. Both Gabriella Mattio's (Fr. • Plainfield, Ill.) shot was saved by the Blue Devil goalkeeper Kristen Silenzi and Whitney's was saved by a defender.

Mattio got off one more shot on goal before the half that was saved by Silenzi.

The Titans shot three times before the clock reached the 52nd minute with two on goal and recorded four more the rest of the way.

The Blue Devils got closest to scoring on a penalty kick in the 79th minute, but Sauriol intercepted the shot to keep the score at 1-0.

Maddie Anderson (Jr. • Crystal Lake, Ill.) and Blue Devil Emma Balsley were each assigned a yellow card during the match.

The Titans will return to action next Saturday (Oct. 14) for a road match with UW-Eau Claire at 2 p.m.
