Mattio Scores in Tie Against St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team traveled to St. Norbert College Wednesday night (Sept. 6), playing to a 1-1 tie.

The Titans (0-2-1) shot 12 times with four shots on goal, while the Green Knights (1-1-1) shot 27 times with nine shots on goal.

During a Titan rampage on the Green Knights' goal in the middle of the first half, Brianna Kehl was able to connect with Gabriella Mattio to give UWO an early 1-0 lead.

Ella Sasse, playing in her first career game as goalkeeper, played all 90 minutes and totaled eight saves on the night.

After Mattio's goal in the first half, along with Sasse's play in goal, it looked like it was all the Titans needed to earn the win, however an 86th minute goal by SNC's Mallory Names squeezed past Sasse to tie it up.

Mattio attempted one last shot to win it for the Titans, but it was saved by Green Knights goalkeeper Klara Banemark and the Titans had to settle for a 1-1 tie.

The Titans will face the University of Dubuque (Iowa) on the road for the inaugural 151 Derby on Saturday (Sept. 9) and open their home slate of the 2023 schedule this Sunday (Sept. 10th) at 2 p.m. against the University of Olivet (Mich.).
