Titans, Scots Play To Scoreless Draw

ST. PAUL, Minn.–The UW-Oshkosh and Macalester College (Minn.) women's soccer teams both remained unbeaten and unscored upon after playing to a 0-0 tie Monday (Sept. 5) on Macalester's home pitch.

UW-Oshkosh (2-0-1) entered the day outscoring opponents, 21-0, while Macalester (2-0-1) had scored seven goals during its two shutout victories on the year.

Titans goalkeeper Emma Sauriol made four saves as Macalester narrowly outshot UW-Oshkosh, 11-10. Scots goalkeeper Ashlyn Ryan collected five saves.

UW-Oshkosh had perhaps the best scoring opportunity of the day when a throw-in bounded to Shelby Cooney, whose shot was deflected by Ryan and then eventually cleared as it neared the goal line with just over minute remaining in the first half.

Both teams went on to produce three shots on goal during the second half. Greta Steines had a team-leading three shots for the Titans, including one on goal.

Monday's meeting was the second between the teams and first since a 1-1 draw in 2006.

This season regular season contests tied after regulation are deemed draws and do not go to overtime.

UW-Oshkosh conducts its home opener Friday (Sept. 9) against Calvin University (Mich.) at J. J. Keller at Titan Stadium.
