Steines and Kaufmann Record Hat Tricks in Season Opener

RIPON, Wis.— Greta Steines (Fr./Eau Claire) and Rylie Kaufmann (Jr./St. Charles, IL) scored hat tricks in the season opening win for the UW-Oshkosh Titans soccer squad. The Titans posted a 15-0 win over the Ripon Red Hawks.

High Scoring and Hat Tricks

In her debut for the Titans, Steines earned her first collegiate hat trick with four goals in the game (7:30, 9:08, 51:28, 53:33).

Kaufmann (got the scoring started early (1:06) and added a pair of second half goals (50:46 and 57:13) for a second hat trick by the Titans.

Maris Heun (Fr./Watertown, MN) found the back of the net alongside Anika Roush (Fr./Bryon, Ill.) in their debuts.

Gabby Born (Fr./Fond du Lac) credits one goal to her name with four assists.

Also recording their first goals of the season were Mackenzie Bennett, Lauren Janssens, and Daphne Sieg.

 

How It Happened

Kaufmann and the Titans got started early with three goals in the opening 10 minutes of action. The Titans would build on their lead, taking an 8-0 lead on a shot by Mackenzie Bennett (Sr./Geneva, IL).

Kaufmann got the Titans started in the second half with an unassisted goal. The Titans scored three goals in six minutes to end the game as eight different Titans found the back of the net.

Nine Titans made their debuts this afternoon, including Mallory Kerhin in goal and a save from an offensive attempt from the Red Hawks.

 

Road Warriors

The Titans continue their opening stretch on the road. The Titans head to Minnesota over the Labor Day weekend, for matchups against Bethel (Sept. 3) and Macalester (Sept. 5).
