Bennett Receives Soccer Scholar All-America Honors

UW-Oshkosh junior defender Mackenzie Bennett was named to the 2021 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's Scholar All-America Second Team.

Bennett, the first USC Scholar All-American in the 28-year history of the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer program, was among 42 Division III players recognized for their outstanding performance on the field and in the classroom. A total of 14 players were selected to each of the three Scholar All-America teams.

Bennett owns a 3.82 cumulative grade-point average as a nursing major. She collected All-Region IX First Team honors from the USC this fall after helping UW-Oshkosh compile a 16-2-2 record, capture Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and postseason championships and earn an automatic bid into the Division III national tournament. The Titans made their fifth Division III tournament appearance in 2021 and lost a 2-1 penalty kick shootout to Wheaton College (Ill.) in the first round of the 64-team event.

Bennett, the 2021 WIAC Defensive Player of the Year, started all 20 matches for the Titans this season and was an essential part in UW-Oshkosh totaling nine shutouts and allowing just 78 shots on goal. She scored six goals in 2021, including match winners against UW-River Falls on Oct. 30, UW-Eau Claire on Nov. 4 and UW-La Crosse on Nov. 6.

Bennett's 55-match UW-Oshkosh career features seven goals, three assists and 17 points.

Bennett, a three-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member, was among 12 players chosen to the 2021 USC NCAA Division III Women's Scholar All-North/Central Region First Team.

Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the USC All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, January 22, 2022, in Kansas City, Mo.
