Titans Record Another Sweep Of WIAC Weekly Soccer Awards

UW-Oshkosh swept Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Kwik Trip Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this season as junior Mackenzie Bennett was recognized for her performance on defense and freshman Molly Jackson on offense for the period of Oct. 18-24.

UW-Oshkosh previously had Jackson and senior goalkeeper Erin Toomey win awards for matches played Sept. 13-19 and Bennett and freshman forward Piper Green for contests held Sept. 27-Oct. 3.

Bennett, a defender, and Jackson, a midfielder, helped UW-Oshkosh defeat defending WIAC champion UW-Whitewater, 4-1, and NCAA Division III regionally ranked UW-La Crosse, 2-1, to earn at least a share of its second league championship in program history.

Bennett won several battles for ball possession in the two matches while scoring one goal and assisting on another.

Bennett delivered the key pass on the Titans' third goal of their road win over UW-Whitewater on Oct. 20 and gave UW-Oshkosh a 1-0 lead with her 5-yard header off a corner kick launched during the 64th minute of its home victory over UW-La Crosse on Oct. 23.

Jackson scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as UW-Oshkosh overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat UW-Whitewater.

UW-Oshkosh tied the score against the Warhawks on Jackson's 25-yard kick in the 23rd minute and took a 2-1 lead on Maddie Hill's 23-yard boot in the 33rd. Jackson delivered the key pass on Hill's goal.

Following another UW-Oshkosh score, Jackson tallied her second goal of the match during the 82nd minute of play. She converted a header from six yards after receiving a pass from Piper Green. The goal was Jackson's fifth of the season and third in three matches.

Jackson was held without a shot during UW-Oshkosh's win over UW-La Crosse.

The Titans improved their record to 13-2-1 (6-0 WIAC) with last week's victories.
