Titans Win Defensive Battle With Spartans

Alayna Clark and Molly Jackson recorded their first career goals and accounted for all of UW-Oshkosh's scoring during the Titans' 2-1 victory over the University of Dubuque women's soccer team Wednesday (Sept. 15) in Dubuque, Iowa.

Clark put UW-Oshkosh in front for good with her goal just 206 seconds (3:26) into play.

Jackson, who was credited with an assist on Clark's goal, then doubled the Titans' advantage over the Spartans with her goal during the 27th minute (26:50) of activity.

University of Dubuque's Brooke Brodzinski concluded the game's scoring when she found the back of the net off a pass from Carolena Lund in the contest's 34th minute (33:58).

Wednesday's match was a defensive battle, as the teams combined for only 13 shots and just three apiece during a scoreless second half.

UW-Oshkosh compiled seven shots and four shots on goal while earning three corner kicks. Clark and Mallory Knight led the Titans with two shots each.

University of Dubuque accumulated six shots, three shots on goal and a pair of corner kicks. The Spartans (3-2) were paced by the two shots from Brodzinski.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Erin Toomey improved her season record to 4-1 by stopping shots in the 33rd and 62nd minute of action.

Cadence Martindale, Toomey's counterpart for the Spartans, saved two shots as well – kicks in the 18th and 61st minute of play.

UW-Oshkosh has now won five of its seven meetings with the University of Dubuque.

Wednesday's victory also improved UW-Oshkosh's season record to 6-1, the Titans' best mark since opening the 2012 campaign with a 6-0-1 record. UW-Oshkosh has outscored its seven opponents this season, 26-2, while posting advantages of 168-46 in shots and 97-19 in shots on goal.

UW-Oshkosh hosts Carroll University (5-0-1) Saturday (Sept. 28) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium before traveling for its second three-game road trip in seven matches.
