Titans Record Another Shutout Victory

Rylie Kaufmann scored midway through the second half and goalkeeper Emma Sauriol saved three shots as visiting UW-Oshkosh defeated Grinnell College, 1-0, in a women's soccer match held Sunday (Sept. 12) in Grinnell, Iowa.

Kaufmann broke a scoreless contest with her team-leading fifth goal of the season during the game's 72nd minute (71:15) of play. Her 12-yard scoring kick followed a pass from Quinlan Thompson.

Six minutes before UW-Oshkosh's goal, Grinnell College nearly took the lead as Francesca Dalla Betta launched a shot off a corner kick that rattled off the top crossbar and nearly went into the net.

Sauriol recorded all her saves in the first half – stops in the contest's fifth, 23rd and 27th minute – before being replaced by Hannah Felker at intermission. Felker didn't face a shot in the second half.

The Titans also tallied a team save 84 seconds (44th minute) before the break.

UW-Oshkosh (5-1) concluded the contest with 14 shots, 11 on goal. The Titans were led by the three shots from Kaufmann and the two apiece from Thompson, Piper Green and Mallory Knight.

UW-Oshkosh had seven of its shots saved by Grinnell College goalkeeper Elinor Arneson in the first half and three in the second.

Grinnell College (1-3) totaled 13 shots, four on goal. Giada Bambi, Ali Nadalsky, Alyssa Radakovich and Keiko Smith paced the Pioneers with two shots each.

Sunday's match was the fourth between UW-Oshkosh and Grinnell College. The Titans now lead the series by a 3-1 count.

UW-Oshkosh has outscored its six opponents this season, 24-1, while posting advantages of 161-40 in shots and 93-16 in shots on goals. The Titans own five shutouts on the year.

UW-Oshkosh wraps up its three-game trip to Iowa with Wednesday's (Sept. 15) match at the University of Dubuque.
