Titans Edge Blue Devils For First Conference Victory
Rylie Kaufmann's first collegiate goal was a match winner as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team defeated UW-Stout, 1-0, on Saturday (Oct. 12) in River Falls.
Kaufmann scored during the 68th minute (67:51) of a match played in snow and mist at UW-River Falls' home venue. Her goal was assisted by Maddie Morris.
UW-Oshkosh (4-7-1, 1-2 WIAC) totaled 20 shots in the contest, including three apiece from Morris, Grace Herrmann, Delaney Karl and Mallory Knight. The Titans also earned four of the game's seven corner kicks.
UW-Stout goalkeeper Claudia Anderson saved 12 UW-Oshkosh shots, eight in the first half and four in the second. Three of her saves came off of shots launched by Karl.
UW-Oshkosh, which has allowed just 17 goals during its 12 matches played this season, held UW-Stout (3-8, 0-3 WIAC) to only three shots. The Blue Devils were led by the two shots attempted by Rachel Washington.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Madelyn Runyan didn't face a shot as she recorded her first shutout of the season.
The Titans improved their all-time record against UW-Stout to 21-4-7.
UW-Oshkosh travels to Mequon on Tuesday (Oct. 15) for a match against Concordia University Wisconsin.
