Titans Extend Winning Streak To Seven Matches

Christina Mauthe scored both goals as UW-Oshkosh won its seventh straight match with a 2-0 victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering women's soccer team on Saturday (Oct. 10) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The visiting Raiders (7-6) controlled the tempo early by attempting the first three shots of the game.

But it was the host Titans who scored first with Mauthe's fifth goal of the season during the 19th minute (18:09) of play. Robyn Elliott provided a pass that Mauthe was able to lob over the Milwaukee School of Engineering goalkeeper and into the net from 10 yards out.

UW-Oshkosh (9-2) had a flurry of shots in the next 15 minutes, including a 25-yard kick that Mauthe sailed into the net at the 31:01 mark. Alexis Brewer delivered a pass that led to Mauthe's second goal of the game and her fifth score in the last four contests.

The Titans went to intermission owning a 2-0 lead on the scoreboard and a 17-5 advantage in shots.

The second half went scoreless despite four shots on goal by the Raiders. UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi saved each of those shots, including a pair of attempts by Aly Loepfe.

Milwaukee School of Engineering also had a second-half shot taken by Becca Keller hit the crossbar.

UW-Oshkosh, which has won all four meetings with Milwaukee School of Engineering, finished the match with a 22-12 advantage in shots. The Titans earned two of the three corner kick opportunities.

The Titans were led by the five shots of both Mauthe and Elliott. The Raiders were paced by the four shots of Loepfe.

Muzi went the distance guarding the UW-Oshkosh goal. She saved six shots to record her third shutout of the season.

Mary McFee played the first half in goal for Milwaukee School of Engineering and recorded four saves. Sydney Stephens tended the goal in the second half for the Raiders and did not face a single shot.

UW-Oshkosh faces St. Norbert College on Wednesday night (Oct. 14) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
