Blazers Score Once In Each Half To Defeat Titans

The College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) received goals from Jenna Kleason in the first half and Alyssa Hoffman in the second to defeat the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team, 2-0, on Sunday (Sept. 6) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Kleason started the scoring for the Blazers (2-0-1) in the 13th minute (12:53) of play. She took a corner kick from Nicole Bauer in the air and headed a 3-yard shot into the net.

The College of Saint Benedict held its one-goal advantage until Alyssa Hoffman scored her third goal of the young 2015 season during the 80th minute (79:47) of action. Hoffman scored from 30 yards off a pass from Miranda Mosher.

The Blazers had a chance to make it a 3-0 lead, but Gracie Vaughan's kick hit the right post during the game's 86th minute (85:59).

UW-Oshkosh (1-1) attempted nine shots in the contest, but only two were on goal. Megan Paulick led the Titans with three shots.

The College of Saint Benedict, which improved to 9-1-1 against UW-Oshkosh, finished the match with eight shots. The Blazers, who had five shots on goal, were paced by Taylor Hedin's two shots.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi saved three shots. She blocked shots by Kelsey Tatarek in the fourth minute (3:25), Hedin in the 27th (26:51) and Mosher in the 37th (36:48).

Heather Kaluzniak saved two shots while guarding the College of Saint Benedict goal. She denied shots by Robyn Elliott in the 22nd minute (21:46) and Alyssa Arnold in the 31st (30:49).

The College of Saint Benedict is favored to capture this year's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title while UW-Oshkosh is picked to finish second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

UW-Oshkosh plays its next two matches on the road, starting with Friday's (Sept. 11) contest at Marian University.
