Schneider Receives WIAC Weekly Award

UW-Oshkosh defender Avery Schneider (Jr. • De Pere) has been named the WIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches held Oct. 1-7.

Schneider anchored a UW-Oshkosh defense that allowed just one goal and 13 shots in matches against St. Norbert College and UW-La Crosse.

In UW-Oshkosh's 2-0 win over St. Norbert College on Oct. 2, Schneider and the Titans limited the Green Knights to only six shots. UW-Oshkosh held St. Norbert College's Katie Vanden Avond, the leading goal scorer in the NCAA Division III, to just three shots.

During the Titans' 1-1, double-overtime tie with UW-La Crosse on Oct. 6, Schneider and her teammates allowed the Eagles just seven shots.

UW-Oshkosh entered the matches ranked 24th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The WIAC selected midfielder Kim Jobke of UW-Stevens Point as its Offensive Player of the Week.
