Berkopec Named To Academic All-District Team

Goalkeeper Katie Berkopec (Jr. • Apple Valley, Minn.) was voted to the NCAA Division III Academic All-District Six Team. The squad of 11 women is sponsored by Capital One and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Berkopec posted five shutouts this season, including four in the first six matches. She started 14 contests while totaling 56 saves and a 1.05 goals against average in 1,196 minutes. Berkopec led the WIAC in shutout percentage at 36 percent.

Against UW-River Falls on Sept. 22, Berkopec stopped six shots and didn't allow a goal in 110 minutes. She also made six saves during a 1-0 victory over UW-Stevens Point on Sept. 19.

Berkopec owns a 3.82 grade-point average as a physical education major. The honors student is an active member in the Alpha Lambda Delta Society. She is a board member for the Health, Physical Education & Recreation Club while also volunteering in youth soccer and hospitals.

UW-River Falls midfielder Carlin Bunting and UW-Eau Claire forward Gina Williams were represented on the All-District Six Team. The other eight members were defenders Kali Cordes (Minn.-Morris), Kate Hermann (Milwaukee School of Engineering), Jenna Mayle (Olivet) and Liesl Wolf (St. Catherine), forwards Taylor Cunningham (St. Scholastica) and Elaine Gerry (Edgewood) and St. Scholastica midfielders Andrea Beatt and Casey Mitchell.

The Titans finished with an 11-5-3 record this season while placing fourth in the WIAC.
