Titans Tune Up For WIAC Tournament With Shutout

UW-Oshkosh will play at home in the first round of next week's WIAC Women's Soccer Tournament following its 3-0 victory over UW-Stout on Saturday (Oct. 27) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The Titans earned the tournament's fourth seed and will host fifth-seeded UW-River Falls at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 30) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. UW-Oshkosh is the defending WIAC Tournament champion.

After a relatively quiet first 61 minutes, UW-Oshkosh (11-4-3, 4-2-2 WIAC) scored all of its goals against UW-Stout (6-10-2, 2-5-1 WIAC) in the final 29 minutes of action.

Carly Roiniotis (Sr. • Pleasant Prairie) got things going for UW-Oshkosh when she scored on a six-yard shot in the contest's 62nd minute (61:30). The unassisted kick was the third goal of the season for Roiniotis.

UW-Oshkosh went ahead 2-0 in the 74th minute (73:11) as Nicole Strieker (Sr. • Janesville) scored her fourth goal of the year on a two-yard kick. Strieker's goal came off passes from Megan White (So. • Kimberly) and Amanda Baalke (So. • Pewaukee).

Ashley Nicholas (Jr. • Wrightstown) then sealed the win for the Titans with her unassisted goal in the 87th minute (86:57). The 10-yard boot marked the second goal of the season for Nicholas.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 21 shots and seven corner kicks. Roiniotis attempted a team-high six shots, while Becca Blue (Sr. • Kimberly) launched five and White three.

UW-Stout, which had its season come to an end, compiled 10 shots and two corner kicks. Jenna Kizlik had four shots and Alix Hyduke three for the Blue Devils.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Berkopec (Jr. • Apple Valley, Minn) saved three shots for her fifth shutout of the season. Goalkeeper Robbie Shelby stopped eight shots and a defender one for UW-Stout.
