Titans Rally To Take Down Sabres

Nicole Strieker (Sr. • Janesville) scored two second-half goals to give UW-Oshkosh a 3-1 win over Marian University on Wednesday (Oct. 10) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The Sabres (6-7) tallied the first score of the game in the 16th minute. After a pass from Kelly Kulinski, Laura Maly rolled one into the net from five yards out to take a 1-0 lead.

Less than five minutes later (19:43), UW-Oshkosh tied it up on Becca Blue's (Sr. • Kimberly) third goal of the season. Blue lined up an eight-yard shot and knocked it home from the right side. Chelsea Kierszh (Jr. • Oshkosh) earned an assist on the play.

Not long after halftime, Strieker gave the Titans (9-2-3) the lead with an 18-yard goal in the middle of the field. Kiley Hauck (Jr. • Hubertus) and Carly Roiniotis (Sr. • Pleasant Prairie) set up Strieker's score.

At the 72:00 mark, Strieker sent a loose ball into the net for the final margin. She entered the day with one goal, but now shares the team lead with Blue.

UW-Oshkosh easily out-shot Marian, 22-6, including a 13-1 advantage in the second half. The Titans attempted six corner kicks while the Sabres owned three. Strieker paced all players with five shots, while Marian had Maly take three.

Nina Muzi (Fr. • Waukesha) posted a scoreless second half to gain the goalkeeping win. Katie Berkopec (Jr. • Apple Valley, Minn.) allowed one goal with one save in the opening 45 minutes. Jordyn Berger played all 90 minutes for the Sabres, allowing three goals and stopping six shots.

The Titans return to conference play at UW-Platteville on Saturday (Oct. 13).
