Titans, Eagles Battle To Tie

The UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse women's soccer teams both scored once in the final 11 minutes of regulation and then settled for a 1-1, double-overtime tie on Saturday (Oct. 6) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh, which entered the contest ranked 24th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, took the lead when Lindsey Collette (Sr. • Green Bay) scored following passes from Chelsea Kierszh (Jr. • Oshkosh) and Nicole Strieker (Sr. • Janesville) with 10:51 left in the second half. The goal was Collette's second of the season.

UW-La Crosse (3-6-2/1-1-2 WIAC) forced overtime when Jamie Ochsenwald scored off a pass from Laura Sauer with 7:36 left in the second half. Ochsenwald scored the goal on her only shot of the contest.

In overtime, UW-La Crosse outshot UW-Oshkosh, 2-0. Both of UW-La Crosse's shots came in the second extra session.

UW-Oshkosh (8-1-3/2-1-2 WIAC) finished the match with 12 shots, including 10 that were taken in the second half. Collette, Amanda Baalke (Fr. • Pewaukee) and Carly Roiniotis (Sr. • Pleasant Prairie) led the Titans with three shots each.

UW-La Crosse was held to just seven shots. The Eagles were led by the four shots of Courtney Weber and the two of Kelly Denk.

The match featured eight goalkeeping saves, six by UW-La Crosse's Sagan Pizzingrilli and two by UW-Oshkosh's Katie Berkopec (Jr. • Apple Valley, Minn.).

UW-Oshkosh, which is now 5-5-2 in its last 12 meetings with UW-La Crosse, visits Concordia University Wisconsin on Monday (Oct. 8) in Mequon.
