Titans Conquer Green Knights

Lindsey Collette (Sr. • Green Bay) played a role in both second-half goals as the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team defeated St. Norbert College, 2-0, on Tuesday (Oct. 2) in De Pere.

Collette assisted on the Titans' first score, a 20-yard kick by Chelsea Kierszh (Jr. • Oshkosh) in the contest's 59th minute (58:19). The goal was Kierszh's first of the season.

Collette then added an insurance goal when she scored from seven yards out in the 84th minute (83:20) of play. Collette's inaugural goal of the season came off a pass from Nicole Strieker (Sr. • Janesville).

UW-Oshkosh, which entered the match ranked 24th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and 25th by D3soccer.com, attempted 17 shots and earned four corner kicks. Collette, Kierszh and Jenna Lahmann (Fr. • Wauwatosa) led the Titans (8-1-2) with three shots each.

St. Norbert College (8-2-1), which suffered its first shutout of the season, was limited to just six shots and two corner kick opportunities. Katie Vanden Avond, who entered the contest with a NCAA Division III-leading 18 goals on the season, paced the Green Knights with three shots.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi (Fr. • Waukesha) saved two shots to earn her second shutout of the season. Sarah Platzer had five saves for St. Norbert College, which fell to 3-13-1 against the Titans.
