Titans Rally To Defeat Vikings In Overtime

Amanda Baalke (So. • Pewaukee) scored the winning goal in overtime as the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team rallied to defeat North Park University (Ill.), 2-1, on Sunday (Sept. 23) at J.J. Keller Feld at Titan Stadium.

The Titans attempted three shots in overtime before Baalke sailed a 15-yard missle into the net at the 96:50 mark of the match. Baalke's second goal of the season came off a pass from Becca Blue (Sr. • Kimberly).

UW-Oshkosh, which entered the contest ranked 18th in the NCAA Division III by D3soccer.com, created a 1-1 score when Megan White (So. • Kimberly) converted a penalty kick in the 73rd minute (72:55) of play. The goal was White's second of the season.

After a scoreless first half, North Park University (4-4) took a 1-0 lead when Everly Ban kicked an eight-yard shot into the goal. Ban's score in the 65th minute (64:35) came off a serve from Emma Lundeen.

UW-Oshkosh (7-0-2) attempted 18 shots, including eight in the second half. The Titans were led by the six shots of Baalke and the five of Blue.

North Park University launched 13 shots, including nine in the first period. Anika Johnson and Viviana Preciado paced the Vikings with three shots each.

The match featured 12 goalkeeping saves, with eight belonging to North Park University's Katie Ibarra and four to UW-Oshkosh's Nina Muzi (Fr. • Waukesha).

UW-Oshkosh has won all three meetings between the teams.

The Titans resume WIAC play at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Sept. 29).
