Last-Minute Goal Keeps Titans Unbeaten

Becca Blue (Sr. • Kimberly) scored with just over two minutes to play as the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team defeated Clarke University (Iowa), 1-0, on Sunday (Sept. 9) in Kenosha.

Blue kicked her match-winning shot into the goal at the 87:58 mark of the contest. The 18-yard boot came off a serve from Megan White (So. • Kimberly).

UW-Oshkosh attempted nine shots and earned four corner kicks during the defensive struggle. The Titans, who launched five of their shots in the second period, had nine players credited with one shot each.

Clarke University (0-3) attempted 11 shots, including eight in the second half, and earned two corner kicks. The Crusaders were led by the three shots of Sara Doerr and the two of both Emily Janecek and Samm Mammoser.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nina Muzi (Fr. • Waukesha) saved five shots, including three in the second half, to register her first career shutout. Clarke University goalkeeper Hilary Van Praag stopped four shots, with three of them coming in the second period.

UW-Oshkosh, which is off to its first 4-0 start in school history, entered the match ranked 22nd in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The Titans play Carthage College on Wednesday (Sept.12) in their first home match of the season.
