Titans Earn NSCAA Ethics Award

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has presented the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer squad with the Team Ethics Award for the second consecutive season. The award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the Laws of the Game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the 2011 season.

A total of 66 women's soccer programs from all three National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) divisions, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the National Junior College Athletic Association received either the Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the Team Ethics Award.

UW-Oshkosh was one of 42 schools earning the Silver Award. The Titans earned the prize for accumulating no red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards. UW-Oshkosh completed the 2011 season with four yellow cards. Also receiving the Silver Award were Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) members UW-Stevens Point and UW-Superior. UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater claimed the Bronze Award for having no red cards and a maximum of 10 yellow cards.

Last year, UW-Oshkosh was one of six schools to receive the Gold Award. The Titans earned the award after going the season without being assessed a red or yellow card.

UW-Oshkosh finished the 2011 season with a 12-7-4 record. The Titans, who placed third in the WIAC standings with a 5-3 record, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship before suffering a 2-0 loss to Washington University (Mo.).
