Titans Pummel Vikings

UW-Oshkosh had six different players score goals as it demolished Lawrence University, 8-0, in a women's soccer match held Sunday (Sept. 11) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Chelsea Kierszh (So. • Oshkosh) started things off for the Titans (2-2) with a goal off assists from Jessica Erny (Sr. • Wauwatosa) and Megan White (Fr. • Kimberly) in the 18th minute (17:55) of play.

UW-Oshkosh then doubled its advantage on an unassisted goal by Amanda Leach (Jr. • Waukesha) in the 21st minute (20:40). The Titans took a 3-0 lead to intermission on Lindsey Collette's (Jr. • Green Bay) assisted goal by Abby Neumeyer (So. • Suamico) in the 36th minute (35:15).

Erny and Jennifer Nesbitt (Sr. • Sturgeon Bay) scored in the first six minutes of the second half to increase UW-Oshkosh's lead to 5-0. Erny headed a pass from Nikki Mohr (Jr. • Crystal Lake, Ill.) into the goal in the 49th minute (48:50), while Nesbitt headed a corner kick from White into the net in the 51st (50:18).

UW-Oshkosh benefited from an own goal in the 60th minute (59:23) before finishing off the Vikings (0-5) with a pair of unassisted goals by Jenni Kaderabek (Fr. • Oregon) in the 68th (67:32) and 78th (77:26) minute, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh, which posted its 10th straight win over Lawrence University, attempted 34 shots and eight corner kicks. Collette tallied six shots to lead the Titans, while White and Kiley Hauck (So. • Hubertus) compiled four each.

Lawrence University was held to five shots and one corner kick. The Vikings were paced by the three shots of Mallory Koula.

Goalkeepers Brittany Walder (Sr. • Waukesha) and Katie Berkopec (So. • Apple Valley, Minn.) combined on UW-Oshkosh's shutout victory. Berkopec played the entire second half and recorded all three of the Titans' saves. Lawrence University goalkeeper Cassandra Burke played the entire match and saved 12 shots, including eight in the first half.

Sunday's victory was also marked the 100th coaching win for UW-Oshkosh head coach Erin Coppernoll. Coppernoll, who also guided women's soccer teams at Ripon College and North Park University (Ill.), owns a 12-year coaching record of 100-99-15. She has compiled a 76-54-12 record during her eight seasons at UW-Oshkosh.
