Titans' Balanced Attack Blanks Pioneers

UW-Oshkosh out-shot UW-Platteville, 12-1, during the second half to post a 3-0 win on Sunday (Oct. 9) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The Titans (7-5/3-2 WIAC) had 10 different players fire at the goal in the game, totaling 17 shots overall. Jennifer Nesbitt (Sr. • Sturgeon Bay) and Amanda Baalke (Fr. • Pewaukee) scored just three minutes apart early in the final period to put the contest away.

Chelsea Kierszh (So. • Oshkosh) put the first score on the board 21:29 into the match. Her close-range tally was set up by Jessica Erny (Sr. • Wauwatosa). UW-Oshkosh took its 1-0 lead to intermission despite the Pioneers (5-7/1-3 WIAC) owning a 15-5 advantage in shots.

In the game's 54th minute (53:36), Nesbitt launched a 20-yard direct kick into the net to make it 2-0. At the 56:52 mark, Baalke took a pass from Kiley Hauck (So. • Hubertus) and sent a 10-yard attempt home for the final tally.

Brittany Walder (Sr. • Waukesha) protected the Titan goal perfectly, stopping six shots for her 11th career shutout. UW-Platteville split its goalkeeping duties between Molly Bender (one goal allowed) and Jade Jandt (two), with Jandt notching three saves.

Nesbitt topped UW-Oshkosh with three shots. The Pioneers' 16 shots featured seven by Anna Strasser. The Titans finished with a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
