Titans Edge Sabres On Strieker's Overtime Goal

Nicole Strieker (Jr. • Janesville) scored in the second minute of overtime as UW-Oshkosh nipped Marian University, 1-0, in a women's soccer match held Tuesday (Sept. 20) in Fond du Lac.

Strieker recorded her second goal of the season on her only shot of the 92-minute (91:36) contest. The six-yard scoring strike made UW-Oshkosh (4-2) a winner in its fourth consecutive match.

Most of the game's activity occurred in the second half. The Titans attempted nine shots in the 45-minute period, with three of them saved by Marian University goalkeeper Caitlyn Rosenberger. The Sabres (4-4) launched six shots in the session, with two of them stopped by UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Katie Berkopec (So. • Apple Valley, Minn.).

UW-Oshkosh finished the contest with 14 shots and five corner kicks. Megan White (Fr. • Kimberly) had four shots for the Titans, while Kiley Hauck (So. • Hubertus) owned three and Chelsea Kierszh (So. • Oshkosh) and Kelsey Spaith (Sr. • Madison) two each.

Marian University concluded the match with nine shots and one corner kick. The Sabres were led by the three shots of Laura Maly.

Brittany Walder (Sr. • Waukesha) saved two shots while guarding the UW-Oshkosh goal in the first half. Berkopec replaced Walder at intermission and stopped two shots during her 46:36 of activity.

Rosenberger saved six shots as the only Marian University goalkeeper to see action.

UW-Oshkosh returns to J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on Saturday (Sept. 24) to host UW-Eau Claire.
