Titans, Falcons Battle To Overtime Tie

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team rallied with an early second-half goal and played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Concordia University Wisconsin on Tuesday (Oct. 25) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh's Nicole Strieker (Jr. • Janesville) created the 1-1 result when she scored on an 18-yard kick just 3:08 into the second period. The goal was Strieker's fourth of the season.

Concordia University Wisconsin (10-6-1), which had lost its previous 10 matches to the Titans, opened the scoring with a goal by Hannah Brehmer in the fourth minute (3:55) of play. Brehmer's 12th goal of the year was assisted by Kelli Wittenberg.

UW-Oshkosh (10-6-1) attempted 24 shots and four corner kicks. The Titans tallied 11 of their shots in the second half and seven during the two overtime periods. Strieker led UW-Oshkosh with five shots, while Jessica Erny (Sr. • Wauwatosa), Kiley Hauck (So. • Hubertus) and Amanda Leach (Jr. • Waukesha) counted three each.

Concordia University Wisconsin was credited with 13 shots and two corner kicks. The Falcons compiled six of their shots in the first half and four in the two overtime sessions. Concordia University Wisconsin was led by the seven shots of Lauren Straehler and the two of both Brehmer and Kelly Sippel.

UW-Oshkosh had Brittany Walder (Sr. • Waukesha) and Katie Berkopec (So. • Apple Valley, Minn.) guard its goal. Walder allowed one goal and saved three shots in the first half (45 minutes), while Berkopec saved six shots during the second half and two overtime periods (65 minutes).

Concordia University Wisconsin goalkeeper Samantha Anacker played all 110 minutes and saved nine shots. The Falcons also had a defender record a save.

UW-Oshkosh plays UW-Superior on Saturday (Oct. 29) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium in its final regular-season match.
