Eagles Claw Out Win Over Titans

Courtney Weber sent a deflected shot into the net to give UW-La Crosse a 1-0 women's soccer victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday (Oct. 1) in La Crosse.

Weber's fourth goal of the season came in the contest's 57th minute (56:40). The Eagles' (6-3-1/1-1-1 WIAC) defense took control the rest of the way to hand UW-Oshkosh (5-5/2-2 WIAC) its second 1-0 defeat in as many matches.

UW-La Crosse goalkeeper Sagan Pizzingrilli earned the shutout by saving three shots. The Titans' Brittany Walder (Sr. • Waukesha) allowed one score while stopping eight shots.

UW-La Crosse compiled 13 shots, with Weber's three leading the way. The Eagles' shot total also included two from both Kayla Konen and Laura Sauer.

UW-Oshkosh, which earned a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks, attempted 10 shots. The Titans' shot count featured shots on goal by Kiley Hauck (So. • Hubertus), Chelsea Kierszh (So. • Oshkosh) and Kelsey Spaith (Sr. • Madison).

UW-Oshkosh has a home match with St. Norbert College on Monday (Oct. 3) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
