Blue, Reed Pick Up All-WIAC Honors

UW-Oshkosh's Becca Blue (So. • Kimberly) and Nikki Reed (Jr. • Muskego) have been selected to the All-WIAC Women's Soccer Team. This is the second consecutive season Reed earned the award, while Blue made the squad for the first time.

Blue, a forward, was the Titans' leading scorer this year with 18 points on eight goals and two assists. She listed eighth in the conference with 0.44 goals per game, while ranking third with three game-winning goals. In a 3-2 win over Grinnell College, Blue tallied two goals. During late October, she posted the game-winner in consecutive victories over UW-Superior and St. Norbert College.

Just like Blue, Reed played in all 18 contests during 2010. Reed was the top defender on a squad that allowed just 1.5 goals per game. UW-Oshkosh recorded six shutouts and yielded less than 10 shots per game. The Titans allowed only one shot during their shutout win over UW-Superior, in which Reed marked an assist.

League co-champions UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater accounted for nine of the 22 All-WIAC players. The Pointers' five choices were Vicki Bieschke, Mary Jean Cornelius, Liz Hunter, Kelly Lloyd and Lauryn Semling. UW-Whitewater's Emily Gerber was named Player of the Year, as UW-Stout's Kaitlin Kalan picked up the Scholar-Athlete award. Sheila Miech of UW-Stevens Point won Coach of the Year.

The Titans concluded their season with a 9-8-1 overall record, including a 3-4-1 ledger for fifth place in the WIAC. UW-Oshkosh won six of its last seven regular-season games to earn a spot in the conference tournament, where it fell to UW-Eau Claire, 1-0.
