UW-Oshkosh Receives Gold Team Ethics Award

The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team is one of six colleges to receive a Gold Team Ethics Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The Titans earned the honor for completing the entire 2010 season without getting a yellow or red card.

The Team Ethics Award recognizes schools that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the Laws of the Game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season. A total of 73 squads were recognized with either the Gold, Silver or Bronze distinction.

Five other teams met the gold standard, including Bryn Mawr College (Penn.), Grove City College (Penn.), King's College (Penn.), Principia College (Ill.) and State University of New York-Potsdam.

The Silver Award went to 49 institutions, including five from the WIAC (UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater). Those schools accumulated no red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards. The Bronze Award, given to 18 teams, was for schools that totaled no red cards and a maximum of 10 yellow cards.

Erin Coppernoll's UW-Oshkosh team finished the 2010 campaign with a 9-8-1 record. The Titans won six of their final seven regular-season games to earn a spot in the conference tournament.
