Titans Tip Blue Devils On Overtime Goal

Caitlin Casey (Sr. • Waukesha) ended play with a goal in the first overtime period as the UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team edged UW-Stout, 1-0, on Saturday (Oct. 16) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Casey's unassisted 18-yard scoring strike came at the 96:08 mark of the contest. The goal was Casey's fourth of the season, including her second match winner.

UW-Oshkosh (5-6-1/1-4-1 WIAC) nearly had a chance to win the game at the end of the second half, but time expired before Becca Blue's (So. • Kimberly) 10-yard shot entered the goal.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 14 shots and seven corner kicks. The Titans were led by the two shots each of Blue, Casey, Carmen Fiordellisi (Jr. • Howard), Anna Guilfoil (Jr. • Madison) and Jennifer Nesbitt (Jr. • Sturgeon Bay).

UW-Stout (6-8-1/0-5-1 WIAC) was limited to just five shots and one corner kick. Jesse Lankford and Grace Salwasser both attempted two shots for the Blue Devils.

UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Brittany Walder (Jr. • Waukesha) saved four shots, including two in the second half, to register her eighth career shutout and second of the season.

UW-Stout goalkeeper Whitney Fenne saved three shots, with two of them coming in the second period.

UW-Oshkosh plays host to the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) on Sunday (Oct. 17) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
